Why your story matters
Not sure if your story is worth sharing?
This page will help you decide, because even small or
unfinished stories can matter more than you think.
It’s completely normal to wonder if your mental health journey/story is “significant enough” to share. You might think:
• “Mine isn’t as serious as other people’s.”
• “I don’t know how to explain it.”
• “I’m not even sure I’ve made it through yet.”
If this sounds familiar, rest assured, this space is meant for you. You don’t need perfect words to share. If you've endured something challenging, even in small ways, your story matters here.
Small things can be strong too
It's not necessary for your journey to be extensive or dramatic. It's worthwhile to share even ongoing instances of mental toughness. There’s a misconception that persistence only counts when it leads to something big, but real resilience is built through everyday effort. According to the American Psychological Association resilience means navigating challenges, like school stress, family problems, health issues, or other difficulties.
Sometimes being mentally strong is simply surviving each day, attending classes, reaching out to a friend, or seeking assistance even when it’s tough.
Those moments count. They show strength too.
Your story could help someone you don’t even know
Your story may not seem impactful to you, but it could resonate with someone else experiencing similar challenges. Your words could make them feel less isolated. You may never know whom you are helping. Someone may read your story and think, “Finally, someone understands.”
They might not comment, email, or even share it, but they’ll remember it.
You don’t have to have the answers. Just saying “I’ve been there” might help someone else keep going.
You don’t have to be “done” to write
It’s okay if you are still in the middle of figuring things out.
You can share something you are still working through. You can share how you have learned to keep going, even when it’s hard. That’s what persistence looks like.
There’s no “right” way to be brave
Bravery doesn’t have to be loud. It can be writing your truth. It can be telling your story quietly, honestly, and in your own time.
If you have been thinking about sharing your story, even if you are unsure – know that this platform was built with that uncertainty in mind. If you are not sure your story is worth sharing, it is!
You don’t have to be loud or perfect. You don’t have to be sure.
You just have to be honest.
You are not limited to one story
Sometimes there’s more than one story inside you. That’s okay. You are welcome to share more than one – now or later.
If you have had a few different experiences you want to talk about, you can submit each one as its own entry. You can write multiple stories in a single day, or come back another time. The door stays open, and you are always welcome here.
Your story is important, and someone out there may truly need to hear it.
